Train rides with Santa, Live Nativity, Historic District Ghost Walks, Olde Time Christmas Arts Bazaar, Gingerbread House Contest, strolling carolers and musicians, expanded shopping hours, seasonal dinner specials at our many restaurants are among the many activities during Olde Time Christmas in Jim Thorpe December 3-5, 11-12, 18-19. In addition, ticketed entertainment takes place each Saturday night of Olde Time Christmas at the Mauch Chunk Opera House, one of the finest downtown music venues in Pennsylvania. The decorations, the cozy accommodations, the sounds of the trains and carolers, and relaxed strolling through our downtown will transport you to a different era. Christmas and holiday shopping in Jim Thorpe is always a lot of fun and this year it’s even more exciting! The Jim Thorpe Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring an Olde Time Christmas Shopping Spree contest where 15 winners will each receive $100 in chamber gift certificates which you can use toward your purchases in participating stores, restaurants and accommodations through May 31, 2011. For every $10 you spend at participating members’ businesses through 5:00 PM on November 21, 2010, you will receive another chance to win Participating shops will also display the Olde Time Christmas Shopping Spree logo/flyer as shown in the graphic accompanying this announcement. Winners will be randomly selected on the evening of November 21 and gift certificates will be mailed to you if you are a winner. The Olde Time Christmas Celebration begins Friday, December 3, with a short parade down Broadway followed by a tree lighting ceremony at Josiah White Park in Jim Thorpe and will last for the first three weekends in December. Many family oriented fun events are planned including a mug walk, Victorian Christmas house tours, a live nativity, Santa train rides, Festival of Trees, street carolers, Santa and Robert the Elf Show, dance recital, music, special holiday shows and lots more!
